Three Khalistani terrorists, who were accused of carrying out an attack on a police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur, were killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit, officials said on Monday.

The Punjab and UP Police had conducted a joint operation against three terrorists belonging to the Khalistani Commandos Force.

Who Were Three Terrorists And What Did They Do?

The slain terrorists were identified as Gurvinder Singh, Virender Singh alias Ravi, and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh – all of who hailed from Gurdaspur.

The police said that the three criminals had thrown grenades and bombs at a police station in Gurdaspur.

Two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols, and ammunition were recovered after the encounter.

A team of Punjab Police informed the UP Police about the presence of the three terrorists in an area that falls under the jurisdiction of the Puranpur police station of Pilibhit. The police of both states launched a joint operation as they received the tip-off about the accused’s presence in Puranpur.

The gunfight broke out in the early hours of Monday after which the three accused were gunned down.

“The encounter took place in the jurisdiction of Puranpur police station. The joint operation was conducted by teams of Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police,” the police said in a statement.

Two Constables Injured In Encounter

Pilibhit SP Avinash Pandey detailed the encounter and said that when the terrorists were chased and stopped, they opened fire on the police teams, prompting to police to retaliate. The three terrorists sustained critical injuries, after which they were rushed to the District Hospital where they were declared dead.

“Two of our constables, Sumit and Shahnawaz have been injured and are under treatment,” the SP said.
