- Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on September 23, 2018.
- The government plans to offer more than 50 crore individuals access to inexpensive healthcare through the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The PMJAY program would offer cashless and paperless services.
- Families that sign up for the PMJAY program will get health insurance worth up to Rs 5 lakh annually. For secondary and tertiary treatment as well as hospitalisation, around 10.7 crore people receive this health insurance sum.
