PV Sindhu congratulated Royal Challengers Bengaluru on their IPL 2026 glory, celebrating a franchise that has transformed its narrative in recent seasons. On Sunday, May 31, RCB successfully defended their IPL crown with a five-wicket win over Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, strengthening their reputation as a champion side rather than one long associated with being perennial underachievers.

Sindhu also added a cheeky ‘lucky charm’ remark, joking about her move to Bangalore coinciding with RCB’s rise. The double Olympic medallist further acknowledged the emotion and loyalty of the franchise’s fanbase, which has stood firmly through years of heartbreak, near misses, and unwavering belief before the recent title-winning turnaround.
“RCB fans, I am not saying I am the lucky charm. But I moved to Bangalore and suddenly you have won the trophy every year since. Do the maths,” Sindhu wrote in a post on Instagram.
“Huge congratulations to the incredible RCB team, the players, the staff, the ownership and the fans. This franchise has carried so much emotion, madness, heartbreak, belief and love over the years, and to see it become back-to-back champions is truly special,” Sindhu said.
‘BANGALORE, YOU DESERVED IT’
Sindhu further said she would have loved to see a high-voltage IPL final between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad, a matchup she believes would have carried immense emotion and drama for fans.
“Of course, a Hyderabad vs RCB final would have been the dream. SRH vs RCB would have emotionally destroyed all of us in the best way. But Bangalore, you deserved this. After years of heartbreak. Back-to-back champions, Sindhu added.
Patidar, in the meantime, became only the third skipper after MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to successfully defend an IPL title. He not only impressed with his leadership but also made significant contributions with the bat. In 15 matches, he scored 501 runs at an average of 41.75 and a strike rate of 192.69, including a blistering 93 off just 33 balls against the Titans in Qualifier 1.
