An exotic animal expert was called to capture a porcupine on the loose only to discover it was his own pet.
Over the weekend, residents in Krzywaczka, Poland were stunned to see the adventurous animal wandering around the neighbourhood, with police called to the scene.
Once they located the porcupine, a local exotic animal expert with experience in the field was contacted to capture and transport the prickly pal.
In a press release translated from Polish, Myslenice police said: “Until his arrival, police officers remained on the spot, guarding the porcupine and taking care of the safety of the residents and the animal itself.
“However, the situation took an unexpected turn. Upon arrival, the man was surprised to recognize the animal as… his own porcupine.
“As it turned out, the animal had likely chewed through a fence post and escaped the property on its own.”
The police added that the unusual events proved that they can often be surprised, and face unexpected situations every single day.
Fortunately for everyone involved – human and porcupine alike – there was a happy ending to the story, which sounds like something fresh out of a Disney film.
The police added: “Fortunately, the whole event ended happily.
“No one was hurt, and the unruly fugitive returned safely to his homestead.”
