Round 14 of the NRL season continues on Friday night with Newcastle heading to Melbourne to take on the Storm.

The Knights are ensconced in the top four but will be looking to break a long run of outs in Victoria having not won at AAMI Park since 2015.

Later, Canberra will be looking for the upset when they welcome the Sydney Roosters to the capital.

With the Raiders finding form in last week’s win over the Cowboys, they shape as formidable foes for a Roosters side that’s lost back-to-back matches.

Tips: Storm vs Knights

By Nick Campton

I think Newcastle are specials for this one – Melbourne might be riding a three-game winning streak and their victory over the Roosters last week was their best performance of the season but the Knights have the firepower to really torch their shaky edge defence.

Chan in the centres will be a target, so let’s go Fletcher Hunt to score first and Newcastle to win 34-18.

Knights tough history in Melbourne

By Nick Campton

Newcastle’s record at AAMI Park leaves a lot to be desired – they’ve only won their twice and the last time came back in 2015.

There’s no footage on the match on YouTube but I did manage to dig this up – the 2013 finals meeting between the two which was Newcastle’s only play-off win between 2007 and 2023 and perhaps one of their best upset wins ever.

I wonder whatever became of Matt Hilder……
