A wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district turned into a dramatic sequence of events after a bride allegedly eloped with her lover just before her nikah, forcing families to consider marrying the groom to her younger sister. However, that plan also collapsed when it emerged that the younger sister was reportedly in a relationship with another man, triggering chaos and a violent clash at the wedding venue.

The incident was reported from a village under the Bithri Chainpur police station area. According to local accounts, the wedding was scheduled to take place at a marriage hall in Nariyawal, where preparations for the nikah were underway and the groom’s procession was on its way.

BRIDE DISAPPEARS WITH LOVER BEFORE WEDDING

The bride allegedly left her home on Friday night along with jewellery and eloped with her boyfriend, family members later discovered. By the time relatives learned about her disappearance on Saturday morning, the groom’s procession had already begun arriving for the ceremony.

The development created tension between the two families, who faced the prospect of cancelling the wedding at the last moment.

FAMILIES AGREE ON YOUNGER SISTER’S NIKAH

In an attempt to save the marriage arrangement and avoid social embarrassment, relatives and village elders reportedly held lengthy discussions and a local panchayat. During these deliberations, the bride’s family proposed that the groom marry the bride’s younger sister instead.

After extensive talks, both sides reportedly agreed to the proposal and preparations began for the revised wedding arrangement.

ANOTHER LOVE AFFAIR COMES TO LIGHT

Just as the nikah was about to proceed, fresh controversy erupted when information allegedly emerged that the younger sister was also involved in a romantic relationship and did not wish to marry the groom.

According to reports, a young man claiming to be her boyfriend appeared and stated that the two were in a relationship. The revelation led to heated arguments between members of both families.

CLASH ERUPTS AT WEDDING VENUE

The dispute soon escalated into a physical confrontation. Witnesses said people from both sides came face-to-face, with sticks, bricks and stones reportedly used during the clash.

Several people were injured in the violence, including the bride’s cousin, her brother-in-law and another individual. Panic spread among wedding guests as the celebrations descended into chaos.

POLICE INTERVENE, FOUR DETAINED

Following information about the disturbance, police from Bithri Chainpur reached the venue and brought the situation under control. Authorities reportedly detained four people for questioning.

The wedding was ultimately called off, and the groom’s side returned home without a bride. Police are said to be awaiting formal complaints from either side before taking further action.
