After days of scorching heat and rising temperatures, residents across parts of Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Rajasthan may finally get some relief as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, hailstorms and moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds on Tuesday.
According to the latest weather update, hailstorms and thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are very likely to occur over several districts of Haryana, including Hisar, Hansi, Rohtak, Rewari, Bawal and Nuh. Similar weather activity is expected in adjoining parts of Rajasthan, particularly Bhiwadi and Tijara.

The IMD has warned that gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-70 kmph, accompanied by lightning, could affect these regions during the day. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially during thunderstorm activity, and avoid taking shelter under isolated trees or near electric poles.
The forecast comes as northwestern India continues to witness intense pre-monsoon weather conditions. Strong daytime heating, combined with an influx of moisture from the Arabian Sea, has created favourable conditions for the development of severe thunderstorms across parts of the region.
Meteorologists say the approaching weather system is expected to trigger localized hailstorms in some areas, which could provide temporary relief from the prevailing heat. However, hail and strong winds may also cause damage to standing crops, orchards, vehicles and temporary structures.
Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect harvested produce and agricultural equipment from potential weather-related damage. The combination of strong winds and lightning could also lead to disruptions in power supply and traffic movement in affected districts.
The weather activity is part of a broader pattern of pre-monsoon thunderstorms currently impacting several states across northern India. Such systems often develop rapidly during the summer months as hot surface temperatures interact with incoming moisture and atmospheric instability.
While the thunderstorms are expected to bring down temperatures by a few degrees, weather experts caution that the relief may be temporary. Heat is likely to return once the storm activity weakens, although more spells of rain and thunderstorms are expected over northwestern India in the coming days.
