Perth pediatrician Chia Liang Saw, 41, faces dozens of child abuse charges

A pediatrician faces dozens more child sexual abuse charges after police say they identified more alleged victims.

Perth doctor Chia Liang Saw, 41, from Wembley, was first charged in May and has been held in custody at Hakea Prison on remand.

Dr Saw has been hit with an additional 31 charges after nine more children alleged he sexually assaulted them.

Police have charged Dr Saw with an extra seven counts of indecent dealings with a child under 13 years, seven counts of producing child exploitation material and six indecent dealings with a child over 13 and under 16 years.

He also faces five counts of indecently recording a child under 16 years, four counts of indecently recording a child under 13 years and one count each of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16 years, and intent to procure a person believed to be under 16 years for sexual activity.

Dr Saw had previously been charged with one count of sexual conduct with a child, and one count of possessing child exploitation material.

He is due to face the Perth Magistrates Court for a bail application on Friday. In all, he faces 33 charges over alleged incidents in Nedlands, Wembley, Midland and West Leederville between 2023 and 2026.

Dr Saw was most recently employed at St John of God as a consultant pediatrician at hospitals across Perth and also worked as a clinical lecturer at Curtin University, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency has suspended Dr Saw’s registration following the allegations.
