Kolkata Metro to start at 4 am on Yoga Day, re-NEET exam day

Kolkata Metro Railway will begin services from 4 am on Sunday, June 21, nearly five hours ahead of its normal schedule, on three of its corridors to facilitate travel for people attending the International Day of Yoga celebrations at Red Road.

Metro Railway has also planned additional services in view of the large turnout expected at the Yoga Day event and the transportation requirements of NEET-UG aspirants and their guardians.

Officials said the timings of the last Metro services from terminal stations will remain unchanged.

On the Blue Line between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram, Metro Railway will operate 214 services, including 107 in each direction, against the usual 152 services on Sundays. Trains will run at intervals of 14 to 15 minutes between 4 am and 8 am.

On the Green Line between Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, Metro Railway will operate 173 services, comprising 87 UP and 86 DN trains, compared with the normal 108 Sunday services. Trains will run every 10 to 15 minutes between 4 am and 9 am.

On the Yellow Line connecting Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Metro Railway will run 112 services, with 56 trains in each direction, instead of the usual 78 Sunday services. Trains will operate at intervals of 18 to 20 minutes between 4.18 am and 9 am.

After the morning peak period, Metro Railway will resume its normal Sunday schedule on all three corridors.

Officials added that no services will be available on the Purple Line and Orange Line on Sunday.
