A popular online tarot reader has gone viral after deleting all her content and revealing she has turned to religion.
Alex Reads Tarot, as she was known to fans online, uploaded a video last week admitting she would no longer do tarot readings and would instead be committing herself to her faith and embracing Christianity.
The content creator had almost reached one million followers on the platform when she revealed her decision, losing 30,000 followers overnight.
Speaking to her followers, she explained the “spiritual journey” that had brought her to this decision.
“Over the last few years my work has become a huge part of my life. Its connected me with incredible people all across the world,” she began.
“This is what makes this so difficult. But over the past nearly year, something has begun to change in me on my journey. I noticed that as my faith grew, I began to find myself wrestling with questions that I couldn’t quite ignore,” she continued.
The former tarot reader told her followers that her decision was “not an overnight change” but a “gradual journey”.
She continued: “What started feeling as something that I couldn’t quite explain began to grow into something that I couldn’t quite ignore anymore.”
“If you told me a year ago I’d be making this video – I probably wouldn’t have believed you. But one thing that I’ve come to realise is that life can gently shift in ways that we don’t always see coming.
“I know that some people may find this decision surprising, and some people may wonder how I can be saying this after spending years of doing the work that I’ve done. But all I can do is be honest.”
She then went on to explain that her decision was final.
“This will be my final post. I am not going to be offering any more readings or sessions. I’m not going to be creating any more tarot content. And once this account is gone, I will not be returning.”
After uploading her final video, she also changed her TikTok handle from Alex Reads Tarot to Alex the Ordinary.
“I don’t know exactly what comes next for me, but what I do know is that Jesus Christ has saved my life, and I can no longer ignore that reality.”
Responding to the announcement, fans were quick to share their reactions online.
One person commented: “Lost followers but gained eternal life. I am so happy for you” while another said “good for you and good luck on your journey with God”.
Others were less enthusiastic about her change-up and expressed concern.
One user said: “This is so worrying”, while another read “I’m so tired of talented people giving up”.
