Actor Akanksha Chamola turned emotional on the latest episode of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, just days after publicly revealing that she and her husband Gaurav Khanna are heading for divorce. The 35-year-old actor broke down while reflecting on the deeply personal disclosure she made on the reality show’s premiere, calling it a “very devastating secret”.
Chamola, who surprised viewers by announcing that she and Gaurav had decided to end their marriage after nearly nine years, struggled to hold back tears during the third episode. As she spoke about the emotional toll of revealing her private life on national television, fellow contestants gathered around to comfort her. Her breakdown comes shortly after the revelation that she and Gaurav have been living separately for the past year.

Why did Akanksha Chamola break down on Lock Upp?
Speaking on the third day of the competition, Chamola admitted that opening up about her personal life had not been easy. Referring to the show’s format, she said many people believed contestants like her and Harshad Chopda deserved to be safe after revealing their secrets, but insisted the decision had come at a huge emotional cost.
“It is not easy for us to be safe. I have revealed a very big secret. It is easy for people to say that the three contestants should have been saved, but for me, this secret is life-changing. Once everyone goes outside, they will understand what this secret means. For me, it is a very devastating secret,” she said before breaking down in tears.
Chamola covered her face as she cried, while several contestants stepped in to console her.
What did Akanksha Chamola reveal about her marriage?
During the season premiere, Chamola disclosed that she and Gaurav Khanna were getting divorced. She revealed that the couple had been living separately for the past year, though they had chosen not to make it public until now.
Despite the separation, she clarified that there was no bitterness between them. “Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We don’t think we are compatible as partners because we both see a very different future. And, unfortunately, it’s not with each other,” she said on the show.

Gaurav Khanna has not publicly responded to Chamola’s statement so far. During his stint on Bigg Boss 19, he had spoken about his married life while chatting with YouTuber Mridul Tiwari and mentioned that the couple would complete nine years of marriage in November. When asked about fatherhood, Gaurav reflected on the journey he and Chamola had shared together over the years.
The actor is currently participating in Khatron Ke Khiladi 15. Meanwhile, Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa also confirmed that Chamola and Harshad Chopda secured safety for the first week after using one of their lifelines.
The Netflix reality show features contestants including Sunita Ahuja, Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Riyaz Ali, Sufi Motiwala and others, and streams from Saturday to Wednesday at 8 pm.
