Work is progressing on a project intended to get heavy traffic out of the Pinjarra town centre.
The Shire of Murray announced this month limestone for the extension of Munday Avenue had been installed.
Once finished, the new connection between Greenlands Road and Munday Avenue will provide a direct link to the Pinjarra industrial area, giving heavy vehicles and other traffic an alternative route that avoids the town centre.
The extension is also expected to help strengthen Pinjarra’s commercial, retail and tourism sectors.
Shire of Murray chief executive Dean Unsworth said it was a key part of improving transport access throughout the area and supporting future growth.
“Providing an alternative route for heavy vehicles is an important step in reducing traffic through the Pinjarra CBD,” he said.
“By directing industrial traffic away from the town centre, the project will help improve safety, reduce congestion and create a more pleasant environment for residents, visitors and local businesses.”
The extension is also in line with the long-term vision in the Pinjarra town centre revitalisation strategy.
It is supported and funded by the State Government.
