Akhil Akkineni is set to return to the big screen with Lenin, a Telugu action drama whose trailer places a love story at the centre of a violent village conflict. The three-minute trailer introduces Akhil’s Lenin and Bhagyashri Borse’s Bharathi, whose romance later turns into the reason for a brutal confrontation.
The trailer frames the conflict as a war fought over love and draws a parallel between Lenin’s situation and Kurukshetra, the battlefield from the Mahabharata. “No war is more violent than love,” the trailer says, while showing the protagonist going through a major transformation towards the end.

Written and directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, Lenin also stars Sivaji, Brahmaji, Easwari Rao and Sunil. The film has music by Thaman, editing by Navin Nooli and cinematography by Leon Britto.
The film marks Akhil’s return to cinemas after his 2023 release Agent. Lenin, which faced delays in its release schedule, is now set to arrive in theatres on July 10. It had earlier been scheduled for release on June 26 before being pushed back.
Announcing the change on X, producer Nagarjuna, who is also Akhil’s father, wrote: “Team #Lenin came to me with a request. They asked for a little more time to give their absolute 100% and create something very special. Their passion and spirit made me say yes. Our man is coming on 10th July. I say again you will see a new Akhil!! Get ready for the #Lenin experience.”
Lenin is being produced by Akkineni Nagarjuna and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under the banners of Manam Enterprises LLP and Sithara Entertainments. Borse was last seen in Andhra King Taluka and Kaantha, both of which were released last year.
On the personal front, Akhil married Zainab Ravdjee in a traditional Telugu wedding ceremony at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad on June 6, 2025. He now returns to the screen with Lenin, a film whose trailer sets up romance, conflict and a village war led by his character.
