The University of Delhi has, for the first time, launched admissions to its one-year postgraduate (PG) programmes, offering graduates of its four-year undergraduate courses a faster route to earning a master’s degree under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The admission process commenced on July 5 and is open exclusively to Delhi University students who have completed the four-year Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) 2022.

According to the university, admissions to the one-year PG programmes will be based on merit, subject to candidates holding a four-year bachelor’s degree and fulfilling the eligibility criteria for their chosen course.

Registrations are being conducted through the postgraduate admission portal. The initiative marks a significant milestone in Delhi University’s implementation of NEP 2020.

ONE-YEAR MASTER’S UNDER NEP 2020

Under the new academic structure, students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree with the required credits will be eligible to pursue a one-year master’s programme, eliminating the need to enrol in the conventional two-year postgraduate course.

The university has also opened admissions to its two-year M.Sc. programme in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology for candidates who qualified for the GAT-B 2026 examination.

ADMISSIONS ACROSS UG, PG, AND PROFESSIONAL COURSES

Meanwhile, the undergraduate admission process is progressing under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). So far, the university has received 1,48,407 applications, with 62,524 candidates completing Phase II by submitting their programme and college preferences. The deadline for Phase II submissions is July 11.

For the regular two-year postgraduate programmes, the university said nearly 9,500 admissions have been completed. The current admission window will remain open until 11:59 pm on Sunday, while the third allocation list, including admissions to performance-based programmes such as MFA, B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed., and Music, is scheduled to be released on July 9.

The university has also released the second allocation list for B.Tech admissions, and shortlisted candidates must accept their allotted seats by July 8. Meanwhile, applications for the first spot admission round of the five-year integrated law programme are currently open, with the registration window closing on July 7.
