Morning qualifying has wrapped up here at the velodrome, and we have a number of Aussies who will return tonight for medal races.
Leigh Hoffman and Ryan Tate will feature in the men’s sprint semi-finals, which means we’re guaranteed at least one medal in that event, while Kane Perris and pilot Luke Zaccaria will be in the bronze medal race in the men’s tandem B sprint.
Blake Agnoletto, Thomas Cornish and Oliver Bleddyn all qualified for the men’s scratch final, and we’ll also have Australians in the women’s tandem B 1000m time trial, women’s 25km points race and women’s 1000m time trial.
Australia’s women through to tonight’s final of the 4x100m despite a nervous moment checking if they had gone outside the box with the first baton handover.
They finished third in the heat in 43.52s.
Meanwhile, Matt Denny edges further out again with his third legal throw, 67.73m in the discus.
Australia and Jamaica play their netball semi-final at 10pm AEST with New Zealand already locked into Sunday night’s gold medal match and England in the bronze medal game.

Australia’s Matt Denny has made a strong start to the men’s discus final taking the lead on his first throw and improving that lead on his third throw after a foul during his second attempt.
Denny leads with 67.32 metres, but most competitors still have three attempts to come, including the Aussie.

Australia has two gold medal chances this morning.
Jye Dixon from Caboolture in the men’s 55kg class and another Commonwealth Games debutant in Jacob Cassar after him in the men’s 65kg.
Cassar is the son of former group one-winning jockey Eddie Cassar, while Dixon is also one of Australian boxing’s brightest young talents.

Jemima Montag was unapologetic for refusing to take the lead for most of the race walk, frustrating fellow Australian Elizabeth McMillen, who was forced to work into the strong winds without Montag’s help before the Australian champion surged ahead of her and won a third successive Commonwealth Games gold medal.
McMillen led for almost 22 laps into gusty headwinds before Montag made her move and opened up the decisive break.
There was a lack of warmth at the finish line between the pair as they waited for Rebecca Henderson to cross the line and complete a clean sweep of the podium for Australia.
Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi has stormed to victory in the men’s 400m final winning by several metres.
Ogazi was very strong at the finish line stopping the clock in 44.25 seconds.
Australian 21-year-old Thomas Reynolds did his best from lane seven and managed to take fifth spot in 45.57, he’s a runner to watch in the coming years.
Trindad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards finished second in 44.82 with South Africa’s Zakithi Nene in third place in 45.21.
Jamaica’s Jordan Scott has won the men’s triple jump title today with a leap of 16.72m.

All three of Australia’s men’s sprinters survive their 1/8 final and progress to the quarter-finals.
Ryan Tate certainly left it to the last minute, but managed to get the job done against Scotland’s Craig Lyall, while Daniel James Barber also pipped Malaysia’s Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom to the line.
Leigh Hoffman, the fastest rider from qualifying, easily got the win against Canada’s Cole Dempster.
