There are six riders in this field. The top two after qualifying will race for gold, and third and fourth will race for bronze.
Australia’s Gordon Allan will be the fourth rider to have a crack. England’s Matthew Robertson is currently top of the standings with a factored time of 3:25.655 (a new Commonwealth Games record).
Allan starts brightly but is losing touch as his run continues.
But a strong fightback at the end sees Allan clock a time of 3:29.652. That’s enough to put him in second spot, which would be enough to qualify him for the gold medal race. Still two riders left though, so it’s an anxious wait for the Australian.
Unfortunately for Allan, the hometown hero Fin Graham has just topped the standings with his run, so the Australian will be bumped down to the bronze medal race.
