The Perth Supercars attracted its biggest crowd in a decade over the weekend, with more than 40,000 spectators packing Wanneroo Raceway.
Crowds jumped 15 per cent compared to 2025, with 40,213 people attending the three-day Perth Super 440 — the event’s highest turnout since 2016.
Matt Payne won two of the weekend’s three championship races, while Ballajura’s Brodie Kostecki endured a frustrating home event after fuel rig issues derailed his chances in Sunday’s final race.
Broc Feeney claimed victory in Saturday’s second championship race before finishing runner-up to Payne in Sunday’s finale.
Supercars executive chairman Barclay Nettlefold said the weekend’s attendance gave the organisation “enormous confidence in the future of Supercars in WA”.
“Perth continues to show just how much passion there is for Supercars in WA, and to see more than 40,000 people come through the gates this weekend is a fantastic result,” Mr Nettlefold said.
“What stands out is the enthusiasm we’ve seen from WA fans, not just in the grandstands but across every part of the event experience.
“Perth has become one of the most passionate motorsport markets in the country and we’re excited about what’s ahead. We thank everyone who came along and helped make the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 such a success.”
Across the three days, fans were treated to a packed schedule of racing and family entertainment, with the Super2 Series, Radical Cup Australia, V8 SuperUtes and Trans Am Championship also on the program, alongside car displays and aerial displays by the Australian Defence Force.
Last weekend’s event was likely the penultimate Supercars Championship meeting at Wanneroo Raceway before the championship moves to the controversial Perth Park circuit in 2028.
Deputy Premier and Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti said she believes WA’s appetite for motorsport is continuing to build.
“The atmosphere at the Perth Super 440 has been electric and it’s been fantastic to see so many people enjoying the excitement at Wanneroo Raceway this weekend,” Ms Saffioti said.
“Major sporting events like these not only bring the community together and provide action-packed entertainment, but boost WA’s economy and support local jobs.
“Momentum for motorsport in WA is continuing to grow and we can’t wait to host Supercars at Perth Park in 2028.”
