St Kilda defender Jack Silvagni remains a chance to play against his former side Carlton this week despite suffering a dislocated shoulder.

Silvagni saw a specialist on Monday after finishing the match against Sydney with his arm in a sling.

St Kilda general manager Lenny Hayes said the club would give Silvagni until the selection deadline to prove his fitness.

“We will continue to closely monitor Jack throughout the week to assess the level of function within his shoulder and ultimately, how he’s feeling,” Hayes said.

The defender had previously held Coleman Medal leader Charlie Curnow to one goal for almost four quarters.

Carlton’s upset win over Brisbane Lions last week means this Sunday’s clash is must-win for St Kilda.

Post-game, coach Ross Lyon forecasted that Silvagni had overcome a dislocation in a week before but said St Kilda would “take no risk”.

“He’s a Silvagni, he’s tough, we see his spirit, I can’t believe we’ve got him at our club but we’re thrilled, (but) we’ll take no risk,” Lyon said.

Elsewhere, the injury concerns have quickly piled up at Collingwood.

Collingwood said, “A timeline for his return will be communicated in due course.”

Harry Perryman (hamstring) is out for three to four weeks and Patrick Lipinski (calf) is facing up to three weeks on the sidelines.

Additionally, Jordan De Goey is racing the clock to overcome glute soreness for the trip to tackle West Coast Eagles.

It’s much better news for reigning premier Brisbane, with Hugh McCluggage (calf), Ryan Lester (shoulder) and Logan Morris (corked thigh) all cleared of injury.
