A beloved mother-of-two has died in hospital a week after an everyday school run ended in tragedy.
Nurhayati Pamungkas was on her way to collect her two kids from school when she was struck by a car in Lakemba, a western suburb of Sydney.
She was taken to hospital following the crash last Tuesday, which happened in The Boulevarde, and placed in an induced coma.
Police have now confirmed the 43-year-old died as a result of her injuries at Liverpool Hospital on Monday evening.
A second pedestrian, a 64-year-old man, was taken to St George Hospital for further treatment, while the 82-year-old driver of the car was also taken to hospital for assessment.
More than $50,000 has been raised to support her grieving family, after a fundraiser was organised by the Dicks Hotel in Balmain, where her husband is head chef.
Writing on a GoFundMe page, hotel owner Elia Economou said the family’s days ahead were “filled with uncertainty”.
“In a matter of seconds, the life she and her husband Agung had worked so hard to build was turned upside down,” he wrote.
“Many people know Agung as the much-loved chef from Dick’s Hotel and Apache Salut, where he has quietly looked after people through food, smiles and friendship for more than five years.
“The days ahead are filled with uncertainty. What isn’t uncertain is they are going to need help.”
Since being set up, 650 people have dug deep to support the family, with $53,500 raised as of Tuesday afternoon.
A statement published on the venue’s Facebook page confirmed that her husband and their two children were by Ms Pamungkas’ side when she died.
“We are heartbroken to share that Nurhayati has sadly passed away,” it reads.
“Agung, our head chef, and their two children were by her side, but her injuries were just too severe.
“In the midst of unimaginable grief, your kindness has been overwhelming.
“Please keep Agung and his family in your thoughts as they begin to navigate life without their beautiful wife and mum.”
Meanwhile, police have appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward with information.
“Just before 1pm on Tuesday, July 28, emergency services were called to The Boulevarde, Lakemba, following reports two pedestrians had been struck by a vehicle.
“Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” a NSW Police statement reads.
