A Perth pediatrician is back behind bars on remand after police charged him with 15 new child sexual abuse offences.
Chia Liang Saw, 41, from Wembley, in Perth’s west, allegedly abused seven more victims.
He was charged with an additional six counts of dealing with a child under 13 years, three counts of indecently recording a child under 13 years, three counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13 years, two counts of indecently recording a child over 13 and under 16 years and producing child exploitation material.
Bail was refused for Dr Saw in the Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He is due to appear again on October 30 for a committal mention and is yet to enter pleas.
Dr Saw now faces 72 offences in total relating to 18 victims who were allegedly sexually assaulted by the pediatrician in his consulting rooms.
Police allege the offending took place across several Perth suburbs between November 2022 and May this year when the doctor was first arrested.
Dr Saw most recently worked at St John of God as a consultant pediatrician at hospitals across Perth and also worked as a clinical lecturer at Curtin University, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency suspended Dr Saw’s registration following the allegations.
