Amazon’s Great Freedom Sale officially begins on August 7, but shoppers don’t necessarily have to wait until then to grab a bargain. In a surprising move, Amazon has already slashed the prices of Samsung’s latest Galaxy S26 and the previous-generation Galaxy S25, giving buyers discounts of up to Rs 15,000 even before the sale kicks off. The early discounts come as part of Amazon’s Independence Day shopping event, and they could be tempting for anyone planning to upgrade to a Samsung flagship. However, there is one important catch that these prices may not stay the same for long.

The Samsung Galaxy S25, which debuted in India at Rs 74,999 for the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, is currently listed on Amazon for Rs 59,999 (at the time of writing this article). That is a flat Rs 15,000 discount without factoring in additional bank offers.
The newer Samsung Galaxy S26 has also received a sizeable price cut. Launched at Rs 87,999, it is now available for Rs 73,999, bringing its price down by Rs 14,000.
What is interesting is that these discounts have appeared a day before Amazon’s Great Freedom Sale officially starts, something that doesn’t happen very often for newly launched premium smartphones.
Should you buy now or wait for the Great Freedom sale?
While the current prices look attractive, there is no guarantee they will remain unchanged.
Amazon has already shown that prices can fluctuate as the sale approaches. Earlier, the retailer briefly reduced the price of the Galaxy S25 Ultra by as much as Rs 41,999 before increasing it again by a few thousand rupees. That suggests the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 could also see changing prices over the next few days.
There is another reason not to assume the sale will automatically offer a better deal. Amazon is currently promoting the Galaxy S25 Ultra at an effective price of Rs 89,999 during the Great Freedom Sale, but the phone is already available at that price even without a bank discount. This means waiting for the sale could either bring an extra benefit or no additional savings at all.
If Amazon introduces larger discounts during the event, buyers who wait may end up paying less. On the other hand, if prices increase or the current offers disappear, today’s deals could turn out to be the better bargain.
Samsung Galaxy S25 vs Galaxy S26: Which one should you buy?
The biggest deciding factor is price. There is roughly a Rs 14,000 difference between the two phones, so your budget will likely determine which one makes more sense.
If you can stretch your spending, the Galaxy S26 is the stronger long-term choice. It builds on the Galaxy S25 with a newer Snapdragon processor, a slightly larger display, a bigger battery and more refined AI features. While the camera hardware remains largely unchanged, the overall package is more polished and future-ready.
The Galaxy S25, however, still has plenty going for it. It remains one of the few compact Android flagship phones available, making it appealing to users who prefer a smaller device. It also packs Samsung’s Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and comes with the company’s seven-year software update promise, ensuring long software support.
That said, its camera system is beginning to show its age, especially when compared to newer flagship rivals.
Should you wait for the Galaxy S27?
Rumours suggest Samsung’s Galaxy S27 series could arrive around six months from now with improvements such as a new 50-megapixel main camera sensor and silicon-carbon battery technology, similar to what Samsung recently introduced in its latest foldable phones. However, leaks are still limited, and there is no clear picture of the final specifications.
If you need a flagship smartphone now, waiting another six months may not be practical. Between the two current options, the Galaxy S26 offers the better overall experience if your budget allows, while the Galaxy S25 remains an excellent value flagship at its newly discounted price.
