A man has been charged after allegedly using his ute to chase down two 12-year-old boys riding e-bikes through a shopping mall, before mowing them down.
Police allege the NSW man, 57, seriously injured the boys when he chased and struck them in his Ford Ranger ute in Langtree Mall in Mildura, about 540km northwest of Melbourne, about 11pm on Thursday.
CCTV footage obtained by Nine News showed the ute allegedly hit the boys sending them flying through the air.
The boys were seriously injured and one was flown to Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for medical treatment.
“Both boys remain in hospital with serious injuries,” a police spokesman said.
The NSW man was charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, four counts of reckless conduct endangering life, driving in a dangerous manner and speed and intentionally causing injury.
He was due to appear before the Mildura Magistrates Court on Friday.
