Darcy Byrne-Jones’ bump on Sydney star Errol Gulden has cost the Port Adelaide player a one-game AFL ban.
Melbourne star Kysaiah Pickett, meantime, was fined for staging after he milked a free kick in the tight win over Fremantle.
Byrne-Jones ran past the ball and collected Gulden in Saturday night’s loss to the Swans. The Sydney onballer left the field for assessment, but returned and played out the game.
The incident was ruled as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact, costing Byrne-Jones the one-game suspension that rules him out of next Saturday night’s home game against the Demons.
Pickett will go into that game $1000 out of pocket after his staging fine. He drew a free after the Dockers’ Hayden Young tackled him, but he threw his head back.
Jack Martin’s fine for careless umpire contact is the fourth by a Geelong player this season and means the Cats are one more penalty away from a $20,000 AFL sanction.
