Phil Jamieson’s 2026 Australian tour has been scrapped after the Grinspoon frontman fractured his back in a fall during a show in regional Victoria.
The Aussie music star says he now faces bed rest and a lengthy recovery after slipping on stage in Traralgon and crashing into a drum riser.
Jamieson was performing on Friday night when the accident cut the show short.
He was taken by ambulance to Latrobe Hospital, where scans later confirmed he had fractured his L1 vertebra.
“I spent most of Friday in emergency getting different tests etc and by 4am I was confirmed to have fractured my L1 ,” Jamieson said on social media.
“With a prescription of bed rest and a long road to recovery. This means, sigh, that the tour is cancelled.”
The cancellation ends his planned PJ AIR tour, which was booked to run around the country into September as he promoted his second solo album, 10Charlie.
“Venues/ticketing agencies should be in contact with you for refunds. No-one is more bummed about this than me, but I can’t stand up let alone play a gig at the moment,” he said.
The injury has also forced Jamieson to pull the planned launch party for 10Charlie, due for release on Friday. Even so, he urged fans to give the record a listen.
“While we won’t be launch partying together anymore … if you feel like wrapping your earholes around It, I would be grateful. Lots of work went into it and I love it.”
Jamieson later posted images from hospital, including a photo of himself in bed holding a green pain relief whistle and X-rays showing the damage to his spine, as messages of support poured in.
“Thanks to all who reached out. News travels fast in this game and I appreciate all the well-wishes and kind offers of help,” he said.
Before launching his solo work, Jamieson was best known for leading Grinspoon, the Lismore band behind Just Ace, Ready 1 and Chemical Heart.
