A woman has died after she fell from an apartment balcony south of Sydney.
Police were called to conduct a welfare check at a building on Gladstone St near Fredrick St in Wollongong about 11.05am on Tuesday.
Officers tried to speak with the woman, believed to be aged in her 50s, when she fell from the balcony.
She died at the scene.
A critical incident was declared and and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated by specialist officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
