An Australian tourist claims to have spotted a “dark green head” and “two humps” in the waters of Loch Ness.
Oscar Gray was visiting the Scottish tourist trap on July 21 when he spotted a strange object moving on the loch from the shore close to Urquhart Castle – and he managed to snap a picture of the mysterious beast.
Oscar filed a report to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, which stated: “21 July 2026 – Oscar Gray, visiting from Australia, reported that he was standing at the shore line at Urquhart Castle at approx 3.30pm when he saw the top of a dark green flat topped head pop out of the water well out from the shoreline.
“The head was followed by two same coloured humps that emerged out of the water behind the head, which he thought would be the body.
“Then he saw ripple lines about 500 metres behind the humps and it made quite decent white waves which he expected it was from the tail swimming through the water.
“After the tail swished water over its head it then swum back down below the water. He said he never saw it again for the rest of the day. But he managed to get this photo.”
Oscar’s sighting came two days before another Australian – a nine-year-old named Crystal – also shared a picture of a strange sighting on the loch on July 23.
Crystal captured an image of movement underneath the surface of the water during a cruise on loch with the picture seemingly showing “head of a creature in the water”.
The report in the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register read: “Nine year old Crystal, visiting from Australia with her family, was on the bottom deck of one of the cruise boats on the loch when she took a picture of what she described as the head of a creature in the water at 11.30am. This is what she saw.”
Other sightings logged with the organisation this year include a report from Sharon Herbert, from from Kent, England, who took a picture of an unidentified “green mass” in the water which she spotted during a cruise on June 23.
The report read: “Sharon Herbert, visiting from Kent, took a picture of an unknown object close to the Jacobite cruise boat at 10.27am as it came to shore at Urquhart Castle.
“Jacobite Cruises have confirmed that their skipper says there is no explanation that they can offer as to what the green mass is.”
In May, American tourist Nickolas Weigand visited the infamous site in Scotland and spotted a “mysterious” object in the water after reviewing footage from the trip. Nickolas – who was filming the loch on his camera during a bus tour – couldn’t explain the strange sighting so he made a report to The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register, telling the organisation: “At the time of the filming, I was only looking through the viewfinder of my camera rather than the lake itself.
“We were driving at a pretty fast rate down the roadway directly next to Loch Ness. Because our tour was limited on time, I did not have time to watch my recorded footage until after the tour was over.
“After careful review of the footage, I discovered something mysterious and unknown deep in the water quite far away from shore.”
He added: “In the footage and in the still photographs I captured from the video, you can clearly see a dark image of something breaking the water surface as we drove by.
“The object is relatively large, gauging the distance from where we were on the bus to the distance of the water, using road signs on shore to gauge what was the size of whatever was in the water.”
