Google has just handed the world its new flagship, the Pixel 11. But the throne it’s chasing is already occupied. Apple’s iPhone 17 has been sitting comfortably at the top for months. While the two phones sit in the premium segment of two premium brands, they reflect completely different philosophies. The Pixel 11 focuses on Google’s Tensor G6 chipset, AI-powered features and a versatile triple-camera setup, while the iPhone 17 brings Apple’s A19 chip, a 120Hz ProMotion display and upgraded front and rear cameras. Here is how the two compare.

Design
The Google Pixel 11 and iPhone 17 follow very different designs. The Pixel 11 continues with Google’s signature camera-bar design, while the iPhone 17 retains Apple’s flat-edge frame with a vertically arranged dual-camera setup.
The Pixel 11 measures 152.8 x 72 x 8.6mm and weighs 197g. The iPhone 17, meanwhile, is thinner and lighter at 7.9mm thick and 177g.
Colour-wise, the Pixel 11 is available in four options: Frost, Pistachio, Hibiscus, and Obsidian. While iPhone 17 ships with five colour options: Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White and Black.
In terms of durability, the Pixel 11 features a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back and IP68 protection. The iPhone 17 uses Apple’s Ceramic Shield 2 glass on the front, which the company says is three times more scratch-resistant than the previous version.
Display
Both phones now offer 120Hz displays, but the Pixel 11 and iPhone 17 differ in size and display technology.
The Pixel 11 features a 6.3-inch Actua OLED display with a 1080 x 2424-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It can reach up to 2,000 nits in HDR mode and 3,000 nits at peak brightness.
The iPhone 17 also gets a 6.3-inch display, but Apple has finally brought ProMotion to its standard iPhone model. The refresh rate can move between 1Hz and 120Hz, while peak outdoor brightness goes up to 3,000 nits.
So, on paper, both offer a smooth and bright viewing experience, although Apple’s adaptive ProMotion display gives the iPhone 17 an advantage in refresh-rate flexibility.
Processor
The two phones are powered by their respective latest-generation chipsets. The Pixel 11 runs on Google’s Tensor G6, while the iPhone 17 gets Apple’s A19 chip.
Google says the Tensor G6 improves app loading speeds and on-device AI performance while also using less power. The Pixel 11 comes with 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB storage.
Apple has paired the A19 chip with 8GB RAM, while storage on the iPhone 17 starts at 256GB and goes up to 512GB.
The Pixel 11 is more focused on AI-powered features, while the iPhone 17 continues Apple’s emphasis on performance and graphics.
Camera
Camera hardware is one of the clearest differences between the two phones.
The Pixel 11 gets a 48-megapixel main camera with Macro Focus, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 10.8-megapixel 5x telephoto camera with OIS. It also features a 10.5-megapixel autofocus front camera.
The iPhone 17, meanwhile, uses a dual 48-megapixel rear camera system. It includes a 48-megapixel main sensor with sensor-shift OIS, along with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Apple has also upgraded the front camera to an 18-megapixel sensor with Centre Stage, which can automatically adjust the framing when more people enter the shot.
Battery
The Pixel 11 packs a 4,985mAh battery, and Google says it can deliver more than 30 hours of usage.
Apple does not usually disclose the battery capacity of the iPhone, but says the iPhone 17 can offer up to eight additional hours of video playback compared to the iPhone 16.
The Pixel 11 supports up to 30W wired charging and Qi2 wireless charging. The iPhone 17 supports faster wired charging, with Apple claiming up to 50 per cent charge in around 20 minutes using a compatible charger. It also supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging.
Pixel 11 vs iPhone 17: Price
The Pixel 11 starts at Rs 89,999 in India and comes with 256GB of base storage. Google is also offering launch benefits, including up to Rs 10,000 instant cashback and up to Rs 9,000 exchange bonus.
The iPhone 17 starts at Rs 82,900 in India for the 256GB variant, while the 512GB model costs Rs 1,02,900.
The Pixel 11 is the better fit for users who want Google’s AI features, more RAM and a dedicated telephoto camera at the standard model level. The iPhone 17, meanwhile, offers a lower starting price, ProMotion, Apple’s A19 chip and a more upgraded front camera.
