On Saturday, August 15, Kerala University Vice-Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal stated that those who do not identify Vande Mataram do not know their family.
He was speaking at the RSS children meeting” Sankalp 2026 Yuva Sangamam,” which was held these at Manivila.
Kunnummal addressed the audience, claiming that Bharat Mata had given kids to their parents.

” That’s why we say Vande Mataram when we pray,” he said. It is our family, of course. We sing and say Vande Mataram in response to this. Those who oppose saying Vande Mataram are those who are unaware of their mother’s identity. However, Vande Mataram is still used by those who are aware of their mother’s identity and who are aware of her role. That is how it ought to be spelled,” he said.
SFI and KSU, scholar organizations, claim that Kunnummal attempts to put the RSS plan into practice at Kerala University.
The LDF and UDF, which claim that his appointment as vice-chancellor by the Kerala government is an endeavor to” saffronise” Kerala’s educational system, have questioned his visit.
Kunnummal and other college vice-chancellors have been accused of allegedly taking part in activities organized by the RSS by the LDF and UDF on numerous occasions.
Despite receiving a mandate from the Union government, the state authorities did not repeat Vande Mataram at its recognized Independence Day celebrations.
The government appoints vice-chancellors and serves as the governor of institutions in Kerala.
The past LDF government and the government had fought over the nomination of vice-chancellors.
The latest File state has also expressed disapproval of some of the people who have been appointed as interim vice-chancellors of state universities.
