Karl Stefanovic will soon discover whether he is Australia’s most popular presenter just months after his dramatic exit from Nine as he battles it out for a gong at the country’s biggest night in television.
Australia’s television stars dressed in their best will soon walk the red carpet at the 2026 Logie Awards, which is due to kick off at The Star in Sydney on Sunday afternoon.
Host Robert Irwin – who is up for the prestigious Gold Logie with the likes of Ally Langdon and Sam Pang – will take his fellow celebrities through the best moments in Aussie television from the last year, with hits like Heartbreak High, Married At First Sight and Love Island among those nominated for awards.
Australians were given the chance to pick their favourite programs, actors and presenters when voting opened on June 22.
Most Popular News or Public Affairs Presenter is set to be one of the most anticipated categories with Karl Stefanovic up for a gong for his work on Today, just months after his dramatic exit from the program.
Australians woke up with Stefanovic for decades, with the veteran broadcaster working for the Nine Network for 26 years before they parted ways back in June.
His exit came shortly after he interviewed far-right activist Tommy Robinson on his personal project, the Karl Stefanovic Show.
His departure from Today played out just four days after voting for the Logies opened, with Stefanovic now just hours from finding out whether he will be crowned the country’s most popular presenter.
He is up against his former Today co-host Sarah Abo, who recently welcomed her first child, Sonny.
Ally Langdon, David Speers, Michael Usher and Sarah Ferguson are also nominated in the same category.
The night will no doubt be a special and emotional one, with Sam Neill up for the TV Week Silver Logie – Best Lead Actor in a Drama for his work on The Twelve.
Neill died from pneumonia in Sydney in July, just months after he announced he had beaten cancer.
The Twelve is no stranger to the Logies, with Neill taking out the awards for most popular actor (2023) and best lead actor in a drama (2025) for his work on the popular program.
The show, which sees Neill play a defence lawyer in a jury trial, was also nominated for a series of other Logies between 2023 and 2025.
Other big names up for accolades include the likes of Jacob Elordi, Odessa Young, Thomas Weatherall, Asher Keddie, and Simon Baker.
Stars will take to the red carpet around 3.30pm on Sunday before the awards ceremony begins at 7pm.
