Who is Dimpy Pandit? As Mirzapur: The Movie heads for its theatrical release on September 4, that question has returned after the trailer dropped. The actor behind the role is Harshita Gaur, whose journey to the franchise began far from film sets, with engineering, modelling and acting.

The film marks the big-screen debut of the Mirzapur franchise, with the fight over the Gaddi continuing as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Bhaiya return. With Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and the original ensemble back, the new chapter places familiar characters, including Dimpy Pandit, at the centre of the story.

Harshita Gaur was a scholarship holder and completed a B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Delhi. She began her career as a commercial model and appeared in campaigns for Dabur Vatika, Garnier Light, Sunsilk and Renault Kwid. She then moved into acting with Sadda Haq in 2013, taking on a leading role and making the shift from advertising to screen acting.

When Mirzapur premiered in 2018, it quickly became one of India’s most talked-about streaming shows. Amid its larger-than-life characters and power struggles, Gaur’s Dimpy Pandit stood out for a different reason. The character was shown as warm, grounded and fiercely loyal, with much of her strength coming through in quieter moments. Across three seasons, Gaur turned Dimpy into one of the franchise’s most recognisable characters.

From 2018 to 2025, audiences watched Dimpy grow with the world of Mirzapur. While Mirzapur brought Harshita Gaur wide attention, her work extends beyond Dimpy Pandit. Her credits across Hindi and Telugu include Sacred Games 2, Puncch Beat, Jehanabad- Of Love & War, Agra Affair, Falaknuma Das, Kanpuriye, Black Coffee, Happily Ever After and Aakasa Veedhullo.

She is also a trained Kathak dancer and has performed across India. Her classical dance training has shaped her sense of movement, expression and storytelling, which has also fed into her acting.

More about Mirzapur: The Movie

The action thriller brings back the contest for power, along with old rivalries, shifting loyalties and new contenders. It also takes the story beyond the familiar lanes of Purvanchal into a wider setting, including the deserts, while keeping the franchise’s focus on gangsters, politics and revenge.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the film is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, with Amazon MGM Studios presenting it. The film will be released in cinemas on September 4 in Hindi and Telugu.
