Tamil Nadu Minister for Finance, Pensions, Planning & Development, Dr N Marie Wilson said the state has seen a strong rise in investor confidence, with around Rs 1 lakh crore in investments generated in the first 100 days of the government.
Speaking at the India Today Roundtable, Wilson said the government’s focus on transparency, faster approvals and removing middlemen had helped create a more business-friendly environment.

FOCUS ON LEARNING AND REFORM
Wilson, who is serving as a minister for the first time, said handling the state’s finances was a major responsibility. He said he was spending considerable time listening to the finance secretary and heads of departments to understand the government’s finances and policies built over several decades.
He said the process required patience and teamwork, adding that inputs from officials and other stakeholders would help the government deliver better results.
INVESTORS GAIN CONFIDENCE
Wilson attributed the investment momentum to the confidence created by the government’s stated commitment to honest and transparent administration.
He said investors were responding positively to a system that aimed to reduce delays and eliminate the need for middlemen. According to him, this was encouraging companies to come forward with new projects.
Wilson also shared his experience from the education sector, where he said institutions had earlier faced difficulties in obtaining approvals and licences without making unofficial payments.
He said the situation was now changing, with schools and colleges able to secure approvals through applications without such payments.
The minister said a similar approach was being followed for construction and other businesses. With single-window applications and fewer bureaucratic hurdles, companies were showing greater willingness to invest in Tamil Nadu.
