Content creator Anjali Arora of Kacha Badam fame is set to play Goddess Sita in the upcoming film Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki, but her casting has already sparked a debate online. After the makers unveiled the film’s poster and teaser, several social media users questioned the decision to cast the actor in the iconic role.
The reaction has largely centred on the casting of Arora as Goddess Sita and the film’s visual effects. The Abhishek Singh directorial is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 26.

The film features Anjali Arora as Goddess Sita and Dev Sharma as Lord Ram. The first poster puts the two characters at the centre of the story, while the teaser gives a glimpse of key moments from the epic.
Soon after the promotional material was shared online, several users questioned the casting of Anjali Arora. One comment read, “I’m sorry but wrong casting for Seeta Mata character.”
Another user wrote, “Maa Sita ke role mein Surpanakha ”, while another compared the film with Adipurush, writing, “Respect for Adipurush.”
A section of users also criticised the decision to cast Arora, with one comment reading, “Kacha Badam doing Mata Sita Role.” Another called the film a “3-hour Instagram reel”.
Some comments went further, with one user writing, “Ban this movie. How she can do Mata Sita character.”
The film’s treatment of the Ramayana also became a talking point. One social media user wrote, “Ramayana is not some ordinary story that anyone can pick up and make anything in the name of a film. They’ve turned the Ramayana into a joke. Anjali Arora as Mata Sita, seriously?”
VFX also draws criticism
The criticism was not limited to the casting. Some viewers also questioned the film’s visual effects and overall presentation.
One user described the VFX as a “shame”, while another criticised the film’s presentation of the epic and its music.
Anjali Arora, who rose to popularity following the viral Kacha Badam trend, is playing the central role of Goddess Sita in the film. Her casting has consequently become one of the biggest talking points around the project.

Directed by Abhishek Singh, Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha – Shri Ram Ki has been shot in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi. The cast includes Dev Sharma, Anjali Arora, Sheel Verma, Rajniesh Duggal and Nirbhay Wadhwa.
The film follows the story of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, with the teaser showing several familiar episodes from the epic, including their wedding, exile, Sita’s abduction and the preparations for the Ram Setu.
The film is set to arrive in theatres in September, shortly before the much-awaited big-screen adaptation of the Ramayana starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
