Hyderabad: There will be a complete ban on DJs and bike rallies for the upcoming Milad-un-Nabi, and anyone engaged in them will face strict action, the Hyderabad Police said.

In a meeting with members of the Markazi Milad Juloos Committee on Saturday, August 22, at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC) in Banjara Hills, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar expressed gratitude to the committee for its support.

The procession is scheduled to be held on August 26 after Zohar prayers at the historic Makkah Masjid. It will move through Gulzar Houz, Madina Building, Salar Jung Museum, Darul Shifa, Purani Haveli, Kotla Alijah and Bibi Bazaar.

“This festival has been clashing with the Ganesh festival for the past three years; even then, committee members extended their full support and postponed the procession,” he said.

Bike rallies, sound systems prohibited

Sajjanar emphasised that the rally must commence at the scheduled time and conclude within the stipulated timeframe. In accordance with Supreme Court and government regulations, there is a complete ban on DJs and sound systems that cause excessive noise pollution, he said.

He stated that under no circumstances would violations such as minors driving vehicles, triple-riding on bikes, or rash driving with modified silencers be tolerated. He also clarified that no bike rallies would be permitted before the scheduled date.

Given the current monsoon season, he advised adhering to safety standards near electrical decorations and taking precautions to ensure flags do not come into contact with power lines.

Additionally, he instructed volunteers at food distribution centers to coordinate with the police to prevent traffic congestion.

Calling for a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, the Commissioner said, “This festival has great importance as it celebrates the messenger of peace. Those participating in the procession are also expected to take the same peaceful approach.”

Instructions to police

The Commissioner also held a video conference with police officials and issued directives regarding security arrangements.

He stated that robust security measures are being implemented in sensitive areas and that the main procession will be monitored via drones and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

Constant surveillance would be maintained on individuals posting provocative or hateful content on social media, as well as on known troublemakers, the Commissioner warned.

Stickers are being allocated in advance for procession vehicles, and a dedicated coordination WhatsApp group and a helpline number have been set up for emergencies.
