How does a high-profile Aussie sports power couple keep a low-profile in Perth?

Soccer star Mary Fowler has shared an intimate travel vlog featuring her NRL player boyfriend Nathan Cleary in what appears to be a throwback to her experiences in WA earlier this year.

The popular figure toured WA in March during the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, with the sunshine and warm weather, as well as her striking braided hair, suggesting the footage was captured ahead of the Matildas’ March 1 game against the Phillipines.

Fowler shared the vision via her @myjournalisfull Instagram account, a social diary celebrating the 23-year-old’s pursuit of “mindfulness in everyday moments”.

The handheld footage begins with a wave from a sun-kissed Cleary, before the Manchester City forward heads to Scarborough Beach for a homemade filtered coffee with her sister Louise.

Fowler admitted she arrived at the popular coastal hotspot just after 6am as she “thought the sun was gonna be rising at the beach”, learning immediately she had confused her two coasts.

The tourist later visited Kings Park alongside her mother, with the pair traversing the Lotterywest Federation Walkway to discover panoramic views of Perth’s river and skyline atop the trees, and posing next to the iconic Giant Boab, or Gija Jumulu.

The soccer star also caught up with friends for coffee and sweet treats.

Fowler and Cleary — who went public with their relationship in January 2024 — were then seen pulling faces and taking selfies together near the CBD’s Langley Park.

The roundball talent captioned the vision: “Life through my camcorder 🎥 mems from Perth 🌆🌊💛.”

Fowler’s international appearances at the Asian Cup followed a challenging period in which she spent almost nine months on the sidelines after rupturing her ACL.

“I’m incredibly grateful to be here. To be able to get out there in front of a home crowd was extra special,” she said after her side’s March 1 performance.

The appearance came 328 days since she suffered her long-term injury.

Both Fowler and Cleary are brand ambassadors for Adidas, and are believed to have met in 2023 at a promotional event for the brand.
