Cooper Hoffman will never move to Los Angeles because he finds the city too “isolating” .
The Long Walk star – the son of late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman – was raised in New York and has continued to live in the city even though a lot of his wok requires him to be in California but Hoffman is adamant he wants to stay in the Big Apple.
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I just find LA to be quite isolating. People say: ‘Oh, it’s so quiet, you have your own space.’
“I don’t want that. Whenever I’m in a good mood or a bad mood, New York takes you out of yourself and it’s a nice thing. I think LA just kind of indulges you a little bit too much and it doesn’t help me at all”.
He also wants to stay close to his mother Mimi O’Donnell and his two younger sisters, who are both attending college. He added: “They are the three most important relationships in my life.
“I was feeling anxious the other day so I went over to my mom’s to talk about it. They are all really good at taking me out of myself in a real way and adding perspective. They’re so smart. If I have some real s*** that I need to deal with and get off my chest or talk about, they are the people I go to.”
Cooper, 23, is also spending a lot of time in London because his girlfriend Nico Parker – daughter of actress Thandiwe Newton – lives there.
He added: “Nico is fantastic. Really fantastic. I love visiting her in Notting Hill too. There’s a pub around the corner from her house that I go to if I need to take a work call or something. I’d go get a pint of Guinness. She’s not a big Guinness drinker.”
He added: “People say I speak with an English inflection, which is probably because I’m hanging out in London as often as I am. I love London.”
Cooper was just 10 years old when his famous father died of an accidental drug overdose, and the young actor recently admitted he wishes his dad was still around to offer him career advice
He told GQ of his beloved parent: “He’s my favourite actor, but he’s also my dad. He’s also not here. A lot of people idolise their parents because they’re great parents. It’s a different thing to idolise your parent because you love their art.”
He continued: “I get to figure this out on my own. But also, I would love his advice. And I would also just love my dad.”
