Dave Franco has revealed the Now You See Me cast thought the original film would end their careers.

The 41-year-old actor, who played pickpocket Jack Wilder in the big screen franchise focused on a group of musicians pulling off epic bank heists, has recalled how the cast really felt about the original 2013 film’s prospects.

He told Hot Ones: “I remember at the end of the first day it was such chaos trying to figure it out, that we all went out to dinner and we literally cheersed to the end of our careers.

“Cut to 15 years later, we’ve done three of these things with a forthcoming.”

Franco starred as one of the film’s Four Horsemen alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher.

The movie was a huge hit, spawning a sequel in 2016 as the magicians reunited for more elaborate schemes.

Almost a decade later, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t – which dropped in November 2025 – saw the quartet working alongside a new generation of magicians.

The upcoming fourth film will be the last in the franchise, but Franco has learned to “never” make predictions about a movie before audiences have had their say.

He explained: “I’ve learned over the years to never have expectations. I know how hard it is to have a movie that hits.

“And so when a movie does hit, it’s a nice surprise for me now.

“I go into every single like release of one of my films being like, I hope it does well. You know, I’m going to push this as hard as I can, but who knows?”

Meanwhile Eisenberg, who plays illusionist J. Daniel Atlas, previously said he’s “never felt happier” than when starring in the Now You See Me movies.

Speaking to TheWrap, he explained: “I’ve never felt happier than when playing that part.

“Normally I play depressed people, which makes me depressed, but playing that confident, arrogant magician, I walk away everyday thinking, ‘That was amazing.’

“It’s the only character where I get to stand up straight and wear a nicer outfit. It’s my happiest place.”
