Rick Ardon is a world record setting newsreader, footy tragic, Seinfeld fanatic and can sing a bit too – patrons at The Wray Hotel in Beaconsfield only recently were treated to an off-the-cuff version of Sweet Caroline.

Ardon and Susannah Carr hold the official Guinness World Records title for the longest-serving television news anchor duo in the world, having hosted the 6pm bulletin on 7NEWS Perth for 41 years.

Ardon is also a passionate West Australian footy fan – a supporter of both the Eagles and Dockers.

What is lesser known is his own footy career of 400 games and five premierships as a ruck, full-back and full-forward for Nollamara, Churchlands and West Coast amateurs, where he played under the late Ken Judge.

He featured in three national carnivals for WA, kicking 11.2 in one appearance for the black and gold against Victoria in Sydney.

“I still miss the camaraderie and smell of Dencorub running out on to the ground,” Ardon told The West Australian.

Ardon joined Glen Quartermain on The West Sports Show on the eve of the AFL finals where he spoke about wildcard round, the state of the game and why he thinks the Dockers can win their first flag this season.
