Former Carlton coach Michael Voss refuses to dwell on what could have been despite the Blues’ stunning surge since his exit.
Voss stepped down as Carlton senior coach when the Blues were floundering at 1-8.
Josh Fraser took over and has remarkably propelled Carlton from the depths of despair to the second week of the finals.
But Voss, launching a Sherrin finals moments promotion, says he couldn’t be happier about the Blues’ revival.
“I haven’t spent a lot of time in that, I don’t look too often in the rearview mirror, to be honest with you,” Voss said.
“I sort of like what they’ve hopefully done, they’ve looked forward and that’s essentially what I’ve done.
“What I’m pleased with is they’ve been able to make something out of the season and that’s the whole intention in the first place.
“I’m pleased it’s come to this and, like I said, there’s no reason it can’t go further than this weekend.”
Voss sees his former group playing with an unwavering confidence.
“I’m really pleased for the players,” Voss said.
“They’ve been able to get something out of the season and they can certainly state their own case based on the form they’ve got.
“I watch them play and they’re playing with enormous amount of confidence which is just great to see.
“They’ve got belief in one another, they’re playing against an opposition (Geelong) they’ve got a very good record against.
“The venue, the opposition, the way they’re playing – they shouldn’t be too concerned with what’s ahead of them.”
Voss is confident in the Blues’ chances this week against Geelong but says the odds are against them winning the premiership.
“It’s very hard, percentages say that’s a tough gig,” he said.
“But they’re certainly playing a high level of football and if you look at their form over the course of the last 10-11 weeks, they’re the equal form team in the competition.
“There should be no reason they can’t look at every game and say it’s not winnable.”
