Brisbane Lions star Lachie Neale teased fans with a snapshot of a romantic getaway with his new partner Emma Field, weeks after going public with his new relationship following his public marriage breakdown.
In a post uploaded to his Instagram stories on Friday, the AFL star shared a snapshot of his new lover looking out onto a stunning rainforest backdrop, followed by several images of a cosy pool tub and a sizeable bed within a stylish bedroom.
It comes after the Brownlow medallist was captured embracing and kissing Field inside the Lions’ inner sanctum as players celebrated their 63-point victory against Collingwood at the MCG in August.
The moment marked the clearest public sign yet that Neale and Fields were in a relationship after the 29-year-old was spotted attending several of Neale’s games, sparking weeks of speculation.
The new relationship comes after a turbulent period in Neale’s personal life, with the 33-year-old separating from his Perth-born wife Jules Neale in December after seven years of marriage.
The split followed allegations of an affair involving Neale and Tess Crosley, who had previously been close friends with Jules.
The former Fremantle Dockers player later apologised for his actions, stating: “I have let my family down, and I apologise for my actions that have let down those that are closest to me.”
Jules subsequently moved back to Perth with the couple’s two children and has removed all references to Crosley and Neale from her social media accounts.
Last week both Jules and Crosley broke their silence over the relationship scandal in curiously timed interviews released less than 36 hours apart.
Sharing her truth with the Pretty Sure podcast, Jules opened up on how the news of the affair had travelled through the tight-knit circle of partners at the Lions, and that it wasn’t a one-time indiscretion.
“I guess it was an ongoing, four-month affair with my best friend behind my back,” she said of the betrayal.
The 36-year-old also revealed that she had only heard of her ex-husband’s new relationship through the media, stating: “Yes, so that’s a completely new person that I wasn’t aware of; I am now because of articles, but yeah, found out like everybody else.”
In an interview with Daily Mail’s The Debrief podcast released the next day, Tess hinted at taking accountability, but did not own up to any particular actions.
“I have made some bad decisions I deeply regret, but I believe that I’m not a bad person,” she repeatedly said.
Jules moved back to WA shortly after the scandal broke, where she has since returned to her profession of hairdressing and taken on work as a content creator and brand ambassador.
Meanwhile, Tess remains a full-time mother who resides in Queensland with her son, and admitted she is still close friends with her former partner Ben Crosley despite the pair no longer being together.
