US President Donald Trump has incredibly fond memories of India and his 2020 visit to the country, US Ambassador Sergio Gor said, hinting at a possible return to India in 2027 without confirming the visit.
Speaking exclusively to India Today TV, Gor said he spoke to Trump earlier this week and that the US president continues to remember his India visit fondly, including the people he met and his friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Asked about reports of a possible visit next year, Gor stopped short of confirming it but said, “Stay tuned. That’s all I can say. But, you know, next year will be here before you know it.”
Trump’s possible return to India comes against the backdrop of what Gor described as a strong personal friendship between the US president and PM Modi. The ambassador said the relationship between the two leaders is helping drive greater engagement between India and the United States.
Gor said the two leaders are focused on getting results and moving quickly, adding that when their priorities align, “good things happen.”
He also pointed to the growing level of engagement between the two countries, with senior officials regularly travelling between India and the US. The ambassador said there is now virtually someone travelling to one country or the other every week.
GOR CREDITS PM MODI FOR STABILITY IN INDIA
Gor also credited Prime Minister Modi for providing stability in India, saying this is important for the United States as it seeks to deepen its relationship with New Delhi.
“It comes down to trust, and it comes down to stability,” Gor said while discussing India’s economic performance and investment opportunities. “India doing well is a great thing for us. We want a stable India. We want to work with a stable India,” he said.
The ambassador directly attributed much of that stability to PM Modi, saying the Prime Minister “brings a stability to India that doesn’t exist in other parts of the world.”
Gor described PM Modi’s continued leadership over the past 12 years as an incredible achievement in a vibrant democracy and said the stability India offers is “a good thing for the world.” Gor also indicated that PM Modi would be a priority for Trump during the G20 summit in Florida later this year.
