“Pawn Stars” star Rick Harrison, 61, has been hospitalised after undergoing unexpected bypass surgery following a simpler medical procedure, news portal USA Today reported.

Harrison went in for what was expected to be a simpler procedure but instead required emergency bypass surgery, an operation that restores or reroutes blood flow, a spokesperson for his family told USA Today on Friday.

“He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery,” the spokesperson said. “He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time.”

At the beginning of the year, Harrison married Angie Polushkin after two years of dating. He has six children from previous relationships: sons Corey, Adam and Jake, and daughters Sarina, Ciana and Marissa. His son Adam died from a drug overdose in 2024 at the age of 39.

Known as “The Spotter,” Harrison and his family-run Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on Las Vegas Boulevard have been featured on the History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” since 2009. The show has made Harrison a fan favourite over the years, with his reputation for having a sharp eye for anything fake or stolen.

Most of Harrison’s children do not appear on the long-running series. However, Jake Harrison has made several appearances, while Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison remains a main cast member who works alongside his father. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the show is set to return in early 2027 following a hiatus.
