As investigators examined the building’s construction and maintenance work and a lease deal that apparently disclaimed responsibility for client victim, a labor company from Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh was apprehended on Tuesday, September 8 in connection with the decline of a five-storey tower in Delhi’s Satya Niketan, which was reported by police to have been a source of liability for tenant casualties.
Rekha Gupta, the chief minister, visited the AIIMS Trauma Center on Tuesday and met with the families of the students whose buildings had collapsed, and gave the wounded Rs. 5 million each. According to sources from her company, the payment for the kin of the victims of the tragedy may be made quickly.
Gupta also directed the provincial organization to conduct a security review of PGs throughout the city, including investigations of creating health, required permits, Fire Safety NOCs, and structural security certificates.
Sanoj, the company, was headed to Delhi for questioning in connection with the work being done, according to the officers, at the building that housed the Hostel Daze PG.

A Delhi judge sentenced building owner Hariram, an 81-year-old retired Indian Air Force lieutenant, and his wife Urmila to 14 days of administrative prison, while their 52-year-old child Mahesh was remanded to police custody for the next two days.
A police officer claimed that Mahesh told the police that he once handled the building’s maintenance for his parents during the investigation. He claimed that Hostel Daze, a PG company, had leased the building in August 2025.
The basement had been receiving repairs for the past eight to ten days, according to the police, after waste and water accumulated there over days of rain.
Additionally, a second floor extension was being repaired, allegedly for business. The family reportedly descended to Mahesh’s in-laws ‘ home in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, after being informed of the collapse by locals.
Police received information about the collapse at around 1.15 pm on Sunday, and it happened at around 1.34 pm.
According to a source, Assistant Sub-Inspector Praful Toppo’s complaint led to the registration of a case relating to the collapse.
What FIR said
By the time police arrived at the scene, the entire building had collapsed, with several people trapped beneath the debris, according to the FIR. A number of students and other residents lived in the structure, which had four upper floors and a ground floor.
According to a local investigation made available in the FIR, the building’s owners, Hariram and his brother, had constructed additional floors allegedly to generate rental income.
According to the FIR, the owners were aware that the new construction had put pressure on the existing structure because of the added weight.

Additionally, investigators are looking into a rent agreement that was signed by the PG’s occupants.
The PG operators would not be held accountable for any” casualties or risk” to tenants, according to a police source.
Additionally, it is claimed that the hostel will not be held liable for personal injury, loss, or harm to property brought on by natural disasters, such as earthquakes, fires, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
The agreement stipulates that guests who leave before the agreed-upon time will not be able to receive reimbursement for hostel fees or security deposits, and that registration fees paid for PG seats were non-refundable.
Additionally, it gave the owners the authority to immediately evict a tenant for misconduct, breaking the law, disrespecting the authorities, non-payment of rent, or other student misbehavior.
According to the document, parents and guardians were also prohibited from entering the tenants ‘ bedrooms.
South Campus students are afraid.
Students in the South Campus area have expressed concern and anger over the tragedy, which has caused fear and high rents, cramped accommodations, and the safety of PG buildings.
Education Minister Ashish Sood stated that the government would establish a policy and a website within 30-45 days to regulate PGs and coaching centers.
Details of PG accommodations, their availability, facilities, and safety standards would be included in the proposed system on a common portal.
