Actors Radhika Sarathkumar and Trisha Krishnan have added to the buzz around the Silverstone weekend with a selfie from London, shared just as Ajith Kumar prepares for his racing outing in the UK. Radhika used the post to wish Ajith ahead of the race. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay is also in the UK and is set to back the actor-racer at the event.

The weekend has drawn added attention because Vijay will officially wave the green flag at the Silverstone round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at 9:30 PM IST on Saturday. At the venue, Ajith was also seen asking excited fans to keep the noise down as he arrived, adding another moment to a gathering that has brought together some of Tamil cinema’s best-known names away from the film set.
Radhika shared a selfie with Trisha and wished Ajith ahead of his race. The duo is shooting for a film in London. Sharing the picture, she wrote, “Caught up with the gorgeous Trisha here in London! Wishing our very own ‘Thala’ Ajith Kumar the absolute best as he takes on the track this weekend (sic).”
She also posted a video from her meeting with Ajith at the Silverstone Circuit. Praising his commitment to motorsport, she wrote, “#ajithkumar #ajithkumarracing #silverstonecircuit #london what a pleasure to see Ajith driven by passion, dedication and focus, being an achiever and being humble and handsome as always a great inspiration.”
Ajith asks fans to lower the volume
Ajith, who has continued to pursue motorsport alongside his acting career, will compete in the Silverstone round as part of his racing commitments. In one video from the venue, he was seen asking fans not to scream as he stepped out of his car, using hand gestures to signal that the crowd should lower the volume.
Ajith will compete in the LMP3 Pro/Am category for Ajith RedAnt by Virage alongside French driver Romain Vozniak. There will also be an all-Indian pairing on the grid, with former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan and Aditya Patel racing for Ajith RedAnt Racing in the LMP3 class.
The race organisers have confirmed that Vijay will attend the event and officially start the Silverstone round. In an official post, the organisers wrote, “A special guest will be waving the green flag at Silverstone this weekend! C. Joseph VIJAY. The Indian actor and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu @actorvijay will be joining us to support our Indian drivers in the UK and officially start the #SilverstoneRound in front of the 44-car grid. We can’t wait to go racing this Saturday! #LMC #Michelin”
The Silverstone event is the fifth round of the 2026 championship and is scheduled to take place from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST on Saturday.
Ajith on Vijay’s visit and motorsport in India
Ajith said Vijay’s presence at Silverstone is part of a wider interest in promoting sport in Tamil Nadu and India. Speaking about Vijay’s visit, he said, “C Joseph is taking time off his busy schedule to come and visit us at Silverstone. We’ve been colleagues in the film industry for the last 34 years, and I’m very happy for him that he is now the Chief Minister-elect,” Ajith said.
He also spoke about the possibility of hosting similar events in India. Ajith said: “They have been doing a lot to promote sports from every discipline, not just motorsport. They’re looking at motorsport as well. I’m glad he accepted the invitation to come and look at what are the logistic-wise, infrastructure-wise, it would take for India, Chennai to host events like the Le Mans series in India. And my wish is to see these events come to India and all of us race in India, you know?”
Vijay’s Silverstone visit also comes shortly after he unveiled a development roadmap for Chennai that included proposals for dedicated Olympic and motorsport cities in the state capital.
Vijay and Trisha’s London buzz
Vijay and Trisha first shared screen space in Dharani’s 2004 blockbuster Ghilli. They later worked together in Thirupaachi, Aathi, Kuruvi and Leo, becoming one of Tamil cinema’s most popular on-screen pairs.
Their friendship and public appearances together have often sparked speculation about their relationship, although neither actor has ever confirmed the rumours. The speculation drew further attention after Vijay’s wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, filed for divorce after 26 years of marriage, reportedly citing his alleged relationship with an actress. She later withdrew the petition.
Vijay and Trisha were later seen together at a wedding reception in Chennai. Trisha was also spotted at Vijay’s residence on the day Tamil Nadu’s election results were announced, which was also her birthday.
She later attended Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and was also seen at the Independence Day celebrations at Fort St George, where Vijay hoisted the national flag. She was seated next to Vijay’s parents during the ceremony.
