An 18-year-old woman allegedly jumped into the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district, leaving behind a purported suicide note. Following the incident, the police launched an operation to locate the teenager.
However, the search efforts failed to yield immediate results and the operation continued. In her note, the young woman allegedly said that she was taking the extreme step of her own will and that no one else was responsible for her decision.

Police said the woman was upset since her parents scolded her over some domestic issue.
Besides the piece of paper, the police also found some case and other personal belongings from the bridge from where she jumped into the river.
The incident took place after the woman allegedly left home after becoming upset over the scolding.
She then arrived at a bridge and jumped into the river from there, according to the police. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishnakant Tripathi said the local police immediately reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched a rescue operation.
Personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) flood company, local residents and divers were involved in the search efforts. The operation also faced hurdles due to flooding in the river.
Family members said the woman had taken her Class 12 examination. She also appeared for a police recruitment examination but failed to clear it, they added.
