The Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) is making an impact in Moradabad’s Didauri and Mangupura villages, where improved sanitation facilities and pucca roads are making everyday life easier for residents.
In Didauri, villagers use the community toilet regularly, and caretaker Preeti says many people visit the facility. She said the sanitation arrangements have made it easier for residents to access the facility without facing any major inconvenience.

The benefits of improved infrastructure are also being felt by farmers. Sonu, a tractor driver from the village, said travelling from the village to the fields was difficult earlier. The construction of better roads has now made it easier for tractors to reach agricultural land and for farmers to transport equipment and other equipment.
In Mangupura, sanitation measures have similarly become part of the village’s routine. Sanitation worker Harcharan said cleaning work is carried out regularly as directed by the administration, with efforts focused on keeping the village free of accumulated dirt and waste.
Resident Samarpal Singh said the village is now cleaned on time and that its toilets are being used regularly. He also pointed to fogging carried out from time to time as another measure that has improved the overall sanitation environment.
Singh said the village has also undergone a significant change in terms of connectivity. Pucca roads have replaced the kutcha stretches that previously made movement difficult, making it easier for residents to travel within the village.
The changes in Didauri and Mangupura show that the rural sanitation drive is not limited to constructing toilets. The combination of sanitation infrastructure, its regular use and improved road connectivity is helping address some of the everyday challenges faced by villagers.
