A 32-year-old woman died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad in an alleged case of medical negligence, according to a complaint by her family.

According to the allegations, the woman was admitted to Vijay Marie Hospital in Saifabad for treatment. Her condition reportedly deteriorated during the course of treatment, and the family alleged that she was not provided proper medical care. She later died at the hospital.

The incident has triggered demands for action against those allegedly responsible. AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain, who arrived at the hospital, sought registration of a case against those responsible and demanded strict action following the woman’s death.

Asking the police to take swift action, he told an officer, “Section 41 of the CrPC should be invoked at any cost. There should be a direct remand. If that does not happen, then I will come and sit in front of your police station”.

Section 41 of the CrPC, now corresponding to Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), allows police officers to arrest a person without a warrant under specified circumstances.

The exact circumstances leading to the woman’s death, including the treatment provided and the sequence of medical events, have yet to be officially established.

The family has raised questions over the treatment provided and alleged negligence by hospital staff and doctors. Majid Hussain has called for the allegations to be investigated and for criminal action to be initiated if negligence is established.
