A three-year-old girl has died in hospital after being struck by a car in Sydney’s west.
The tragic incident happened at about 2.05pm local time on Tuesday, in the suburb of Auburn.
The child was treated at the scene and rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, but has since died.
Police say the horrifying moment happened as a car was turning into a driveway in Normanby Road.
The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old man, was taken to Auburn Hospital for mandatory testing, but was not injured in the tragedy.
Police currently remain at the scene with an investigation into the circumstances now under way.
Officers have appealed for anybody who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident to contact Auburn Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
