A man has died on a Sydney-bound Malaysia Airlines flight after suffering a medical emergency mid-air.
Malaysia Airlines confirmed the passenger was unable to be revived despite immediate medical assistance on board flight MH141 from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney on Wednesday.
Three nurses, a doctor and a cabin crew member on board hurried to the passenger and began CPR after the emergency unfolded.
The passenger was travelling with a family member and was subsequently pronounced dead by the doctor on-board, a Malaysia Airlines spokesperson said.
The flight departed Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday morning and landed at Sydney Airport at 7.43pm local time.
The Daily Mail reports the man was an Indian national and had suffered an asthma attack during the eight-hour flight.
NSW Police said officers had been called to the international terminal about 5.50pm after being told a 58-year-old man on an international flight from Kuala Lumpur had suffered a medical episode.
Officers said the death was not being treated as suspicious and no further police action was anticipated.
Malaysia Airlines expressed its condolences to the man’s family and apologised to passengers affected by disruptions to flights MH141 and MH140, in a statement issued on Wednesday.
