4 dead after car overturns near Hyderabad while returning from Ganesh immersion

Four members of a family were killed and the driver was critically injured after their Innova crashed into a culvert and overturned on NH-44 near Shamshabad in Hyderabad in the early hours of Saturday.

According to police, the accident took place at around 4.30 am when the family was travelling towards Shamshabad after attending a Ganesh immersion programme at their native Mettugadda Thanda in Nawabpet mandal of Mahabubnagar district.

The family members were travelling in an Innova. Police said the vehicle was moving along NH-44 when the driver lost control. The vehicle then rammed into a culvert before overturning.

The impact was severe and the Innova sustained extensive damage. Four occupants died at the spot, while the driver suffered serious injuries.

FOUR FAMILY MEMBERS DIE AT SPOT

The deceased were identified as Kethavath Limbya, 54, his wife Kethavath Jamuna, 45, Katravath Mansingh, 48, and Kethavath Vasram, 45. Police said all four were residents of Chowdur village in Nawabpet mandal.

The family had reportedly travelled to their native village to attend the Ganesh immersion programme. They were returning towards Shamshabad when the accident occurred.

The crash caused extensive damage to the vehicle, leaving the occupants trapped inside. Police and emergency personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and began rescue operations.

DRIVER IN CRITICAL CONDITION

The driver, Sabavath Ashok, sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was rescued and shifted to Trident Hospital in Shamshabad for treatment. Police said his condition was critical.

The bodies of the four deceased were shifted to the mortuary at Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination. The bodies will be handed over to the families after the completion of the required procedures.

Shamshabad police registered a case and began an investigation into the accident. Investigators are examining the circumstances in which the vehicle lost control and crashed into the culvert.

Police are also looking into whether factors such as speed, driver fatigue, road conditions or any other circumstance may have contributed to the crash. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
