Lachie Neale was spotted looking loved up with his new girlfriend Emma Field as he awaits the final verdict on his appeal against his one-match ban which will see him miss Saturday’s AFL Grand Final.
The Brisbane Lions player was suspended for one week following a gut-punch to Hawthorn’s Jack Ginnivan during Saturday’s Preliminary Final, which the tribunal upheld on Tuesday following a gruelling 4.5-hour hearing.
On Wednesday, the Lions announced they would appeal the tribunal’s decision, which got underway in Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.
Neale appeared loved-up alongside new girlfriend Emma Field as they hit the streets of Brisbane for a stroll and coffee date on Wednesday.
The pair were photographed holding hands and smiling and laughing with one another. The couple were snapped again inside a cafe where they were seen chatting and drinking coffee.
At one point he seemed downcast as he stared off into the distance.
Field stood out in a burgundy coloured active wear set which she paired with white sneakers and accessorised with black sunglasses and silver jewellery.
Neale cut a casual figure in a white shirt, black shorts and black shoes as he walked alongside his new lover following the shock suspension.
After the AFL tribunal’s fateful decision, Neale addressed the media after arriving in Melbourne on Wednesday alongside his teammates ahead of the grand final against Fremantle.
“The club and myself have decided to appeal the tribunal’s decision, obviously very hopeful that that’s successful,” he said.
“Regardless of the result (at the Appeals board), I’ll be here to support the boys and the club this week.”
Neale’s appeal started four minutes late and a decision is expected to be made on Thursday.
